Complete These Steps To Apply for An Accessible Unit

Each household may submit only ONE first-come, first-served (FCFS) application for all available units. To reserve your place in line, you must first complete the initial FCFS intake form. After submitting this form, you will have 30 minutes to upload your complete application package via Box in order to maintain your spot in line.

Please ensure you have all required documents ready before starting, as incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

    Required ADA Documents

    You need a letter from your doctor or another licensed medical professional. This letter should confirm that you or a household member has a medical condition or disability and needs the accessible features of the unit.

    Note: The letter does not need to specify the medical condition.

  • 02

    Be a First-Time Homebuyer

    All members of the household must be a first-time homebuyer (e.g., not have had any ownership interest in real estate in the 3 years prior to the application).

  • 03

    Meet Income Requirements

    The household’s income must be less than the maximum area median income.

    Complete Homebuyer Education

    All applicants who will be titleholders must complete 10 hours of homebuyer education, starting with the 2-hour "MOHCD Homebuyer Program Orientation.”

    Qualify for a Loan

    Applicants must have adequate income and savings to qualify for a mortgage and meet the City’s requirements for down payment, closing costs, and reserves.

  • BMR ownership programs help first time homebuyers who are low, moderate, and middle-income. BMR homes are specified units in San Francisco sold at below market rate prices. They are also resold at below market rate prices to future eligible buyers. BMR homeowners must work with MOHCD to sell their homes.

  • All San Francisco ownership opportunity programs through the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development (MOHCD) require completion of 10 hours of homebuyer education by ALL members of the household age 18 and older. Upon completion all 10 hours of education, you will receive a Verification of Homebuyer Education. Once you have also obtained a mortgage pre-approval from a MOCHD approved lender, you will be eligible to apply for all MOHCD sponsored homebuyer assistance programs.
